About

S.N.A.P. Academy

S.N.A.P. Academy primarily serves elementary students through academic coaching and enrichment. Secondary students may also receive support based on individual learning needs and program availability. As we expand, we plan to offer additional opportunities across grades K–12.

We work in Huntsville, Alabama, with students, families, schools and community organizations.

Our approach

Skills that transfer

Students learn the S.N.A.P. Framework™, practice each step, and apply it to reading, writing, problem-solving, communication, and everyday decisions.

The four steps are Stop, Notice, Act, Plan. Students learn them explicitly, use them with support, and keep using them once the support is gone.

Dr. Yanique L. Rolingson

Founder, S.N.A.P. Academy

Dr. Rolingson founded S.N.A.P. Academy and leads its programs. She has more than 20 years of educational experience.

Programs are led by qualified instructors and facilitators. Volunteers may assist under supervision.

Evan Tenorio

Environmental Science Researcher and Co-Founder, The Green Gift

Evan Tenorio is an environmental science researcher and co-founder of The Green Gift, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to environmental STEM education and supporting scientific research. A recent master’s graduate of Alabama A&M University, where he also completed his undergraduate studies, Evan’s research focuses on using drone-based hyperspectral and LiDAR technologies to better understand forest ecosystems, identify tree species, and advance environmental monitoring.

Inspired by a passion for science from an early age, Evan is interested in the intersection of environmental science, technology, education, and community impact. Through his research and work with The Green Gift, he strives to make science more accessible, inspire curiosity, and create opportunities for others to explore science and contribute to a better future.

Christopher Jeremiah Holden

President and Co-Founder, The Green Gift

Christopher Jeremiah Holden is a nonprofit leader and community advocate dedicated to expanding educational opportunities, environmental awareness, and access to STEM experiences throughout Huntsville and North Alabama.

He is the President and Co-Founder of The Green Gift, a Huntsville-based nonprofit organization that connects environmental science, research, education, and community engagement. Since co-founding the organization in 2024, Holden has helped lead its growth from a grassroots initiative into an emerging community organization.

Through The Green Gift, Holden has developed and supported hands-on environmental STEM (E-STEM) programming for students, community educational events, environmental film programs, and initiatives connecting young people with research and career opportunities. He also helped establish the Green Gift Graduate Research Award, which provides direct financial support and recognition to students pursuing graduate research.

What S.N.A.P. Academy does not provide

S.N.A.P. Academy provides scheduled academic coaching and enrichment programs. It does not provide clinical treatment, medical care, special education evaluations, or diagnostic services. Students must be registered in advance to participate.
